The area that would eventually encompass modern day New York
City was inhabited by the Lenape people. The Lenape are Native American people
in Canada and the United States. These groups of culturally and linguistically identical
Native Americans traditionally spoke an Algonquian language now
referred to as Unami.
Depending on where people happen to be standing, walking,
eating, or sleeping, New York is either the most overwhelming and chaotic city
in America or the warmest, most romantic town on earth. Here are the things that DO NOT do when you are in NYC.
New York City is the name bustles with excitement. NYC attractions are everywhere. The things must do and must see in New York when visiting
there are skyline views, statue of liberty, world class museums, Times Square,
central park, lower Manhattan, and sure must go to shopping at Bloomingdales, Saks and Barneys.
New
York’s most famous movie star, the Empire State Building, is just as impressive
in real life and gives stunning views of Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge and Central
Park. Summer sees the lakes of the city’s green lung become a boating
playground and around Christmas time Central Park turns into a winter
wonderland when the tree-ringed rink opens and you can ice skate hand-in-hand
surrounded by Manhattan’s grand buildings. ! In Times Square, New York has a
feast of museums. More sobering is a visit to the Ground Zero Museum Workshop
on West 14th Street, which reveals the inside story of 9/11.
Besides that, there are four ways getting to New York City such as by plane, train, bus, and car. Air travelers to NYC may arrive at John F. Kennedy
International Airport (JFK) or LaGuardia Airport (LGA), both in Queens, or
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in neighboring New Jersey. While Stewart
International Airport (SWF) is 60 miles north of New York City. LaGuardia
primarily serves domestic destinations, and also offers flights to select
Canadian and Caribbean destinations. Kennedy and Newark each serve both
domestic and international destinations. Visitors can reach Manhattan from all
three airports by using taxis, buses, subways and/or trains. While NYC has two main rail stations in Midtown such as Grand Central Terminal (on the east side), and Penn Station (on the west side). There
are a number of affordable, convenient bus lines that travel to NYCfrom around the United States and parts of Canada. These include BoltBus, MegaBus, and Greyhound.
