China has thirty-four provincial-level administrative
units covering seven geographical regions. In the north, there are
Beijing, the capital, Tianjin Municipality and the other three provinces. Heilongjiang,
Jilin and Liaoning are the three provinces in the northeastern part that
have chilly winters. In the east, including six provinces and Shanghai City,
mainly covers the developed eastern coastal area. Southern areas are
subtropical and are comprised of three provinces and Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan.
The traditional Cantonese culture began in this region has been a
highlight of Chinese culture until now. Southwest China has four provinces and
one city located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and
Sichuan Basin. A number of ethnic groups inhabit this region. In the
Northwest, which is inland and has the most complicated landform, is
composed of five provinces. Also, it is the birthplace of the long history of
the nation along the Yellow River. Henan, Hubei and Hunan are in the
Central part which serves as transportation hubs both on land and water.
Being capital of the People's Republic of China, it is the
nation's political, economic, cultural, educational and international trade and
communication center. Located in northern China, close to the port city of
Tianjin and partially surrounded by Hebei Province, it also serves as the most

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. It
is unarguably the heart of the nation's politics, culture and international
intercourse. It is a fast changing and modern city full of vigor. Beijing is
one of the six ancient capital cities in Chinese history. Important sites
in Beijing are Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, the Great Wall,
Ming Tomb, Tiananmen Square, Hutong, Lama Temple, Beihai Park, Beijing Capital

Besides that, Beijing is a well-known transportation hub in northern China
with a well-developed transportation system. As an inland city, there are
several methods of transportation from which to choose to get to Beijing such as plane, train and long-distance bus. Beijing
Capital Airport is the main international airport serving the city of Beijing.
The airport is located about 20km northeast of the city, connected by the
airport freeway. Currently the best way to get there is by taxi or by the
excellent airport bus, but Olympic plans include a rail connection. Watch this
