PULAU REDANG, TERENGGANU


Redang Island or Pulau Redang is about 30 kilometers off the coast of Terengganu state in north eastern Malaysia. Redang is a stunning tropical getaway similar to the Perentians. It is the largest of a group of nine protected islands dotting the South China Sea off the Terengganu coast.

The island is surrounded by reefs rich in marine life, and much of the best snorkeling can be found within a very short swim away from the beach. The accommodation is mostly up market resort style in contrast to the Perhentians which is more popular with backpackers. 

A trip to Redang is about relaxing on the beach or by the pool or swimming in crystal clear waters. At midday when sun rays penetrate the sea, brilliant hues of coral, anemones and fish can be seen. Diving enthusiasts and underwater photographers will definitely be entranced by the sights of the islands, which are ranked among the best coral reef in the world. Snorkeling or diving in the sea around Pulau Redang is a breathtaking experience where, the water surrounding Pulau Redang is home to some 3,000 species of fish, 1,000 of species of bivalves and 500 species of reef-building coral. 

Besides that, there are about four types of transportation getting to Pulau Redang such as by air flight from KL, Singapore, Kuantan to Terengganu, coach transfer from Kuala Terengganu airport to Shahbandar Jetty, by road from KL and Singapore to Terengganu, and the last transport is by boat from Shahbandar Jetty to Redang Island, it will take about 1.75 hours journey. the all boat journey to Redang Holiday Beach Villa starts from Shahbandar Jetty and other resorts it starts from Merang Jetty.
